Is a 2000 Pontiac Bonneville SSEI a special vehicle? Some of my coworkers point out to me that this is a special vehicle. If I bought a new vehicle that does not have a supercharger would I miss it?

Not sure what you mean by special but if the new vehicle had a turbocharged 4 cylinder with a 6 or 8 speed automatic it would be equal to or faster than the Bonneville.
If you enjoy the Bonneville and it is currently problem free, enjoy it.

OP may be long gone from active by now. But I’d offer this if:
I think cars from the 90’s and early 00’s are from special time. In many ways I think the auto industry (at least GM) peaked around that time. I just got a 2000 SSEI myself, and drove it home last night. It has a lot of cool features that many cars 15 or even 20yrs newer don’t have (driver seat position memory, reverse tilt mirrors, HUD, DIC, built in air compressor, etc). It’s ergonomics and drivers controls appear to be very well thought out, much different than the dysfunctional sub-menu maze of screens in cars today. It really is a cool car and, I think, comes from a time when engineers still had a lot of say and care in how something turned out before; the bean counters asserted absolute dominance. I think I’ll keep this car until it’s no longer possible to repair.
