Here is what i got: An 87 Fiero bought recently, when i push the AC button, the Revs drop ( like they are susposed to) for a second, like its going to work but doesnt blow cold air. Since the revs drop when i click the ac button, doesn't this mean that the compressor and everything is working ok, besides it needing to be re-charged?

leave it on for awhile, to see if it starts working some air conditoners take forever to start blowing cold air.

well first of all it may need to be recharged but you may want to look for any leaks, if an A/C system sits for a long time the seals can get dried out and leak. The system should be ran for at least 10 minutes per month to keep everything lubricated. Especially in the winter months. If it is a cycling clutch system (i.e. has an accumulator) then it should obviously cycle when there is the correct amount of refrigerant in the system. If it is not then typically it won't cycle. You can look under the hood at the compressor and see if it is engaged or not by the way, just see if it is spinning or not the pulley will always spin but the compressor clutch drive plate should not, once it is engaged with electromagnetic force then it will spin with the pulley
good luck hope this helps

If the system has low pressure, The compressor will try to kick on then turn off. If you have no pressure in the system then the compressor won't engage at all. Chances are you have a leak so the system will need the leak fixed and then a recharge.

The Fiero A/C system is designed to operate the compressor when the system is set to "defrost" to keep the compressor and seals lubricated during the winter.
