Is my cps bad?

Ok, out of ideas seeking some expert help. I'm new to this site (but it is now my favorite) and I'm having some troubleshooting issues hoping someone can give some insight. I have a 96 Firebird 143,000 miles, 3800 engine no major mods done. Problem I'm having is I pulled into a parking space with it running fine and all of a sudden it started spitting and spuddering like it was running out of gas. I replaced the fuel filter a month ago and my thought it might be the fuel pump also, replaced plugs and wires 2 months ago. It will start but not keep running like it's not getting fuel. I tested the fuel pressure and it's supposed to be 41-47 psi and it tested at 2psi and that was key on engine not running. Replced the fuel pump with no fix to the problem also rechecked wires for proper connection and firing order.
Checked all fuses/relays everything looks good and out of ideas of what to check and don't want to throw parts at it to solve problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
 
make sure the ground wire is good,take it off and clean the surface and check again,check your pressure as soon as you turn on the key,should be 45 psi and it is supposed to hold at least 40 psi for 10 min after key off.
 
dont know much about that engine, but agree sounds like wiring issue to pump. or is there a presure regulator? mabey that has gone bad.
 
Check the vacuum line going to pressure regulator, if you see gasoline, regulator has to be replaced.

Thanks to everyone that responded. I will check all the suggested things when I get home from work and post the results. I'm also picking up a code reader on my way home to see if it brings up anything (probably should have done this first). Thanks again!
 
just so you know,a bad fuel pump or the wiring to it will not give any codes.
 
most auto part stores will let you scan for free. but if you dont have engine light on... likly will have no new codes.
 
Hi, sorry for taking so long to reply back to you guys but I did some tests on my car and one of the things i did was scaned it for codes. I got 3 codes, one is P1441,two is P1406, and the third was P1441 again. The P1441 code has been going on for a while now so I know it could'nt be the problem I'm having, but I looked at the P1406 code and it was the EGR pindle, I cleaned it and inspected it for problems and it appears to be functional. Also when I was scaning for codes it was flashing CAT and O2s, I got under the car and tapped the CAT with my knuckles and can hear some light sand kind of sound? I also did some research on what else it could be and I came to think it might be my MAP sensor or my MAF sensor, I inspected both the sensors and the MAP sensor appears to be operational but when I looked at my MAF sensor I saw a crack right along side the connection. I looked online for some easy ways to test the sensor and one of the ways was too unplug the sensor and see if the car ran better than plugged in and..... it did!? But it still ran like its out of time or starving for something, with the sensor unplugged it could actually idle somewhat decent and I could give it throttle without it seeming like it wants to fall on its face as much and when I was giving it throttle I listened to the sound of the fuel pump was making and it seemed to be more high pitched? I think that might just be the way its supposed to sound cause its new? I'm not possitivly sure? And the last thing I have done is pulled the vacuum line to the fuel pressure regulator and I saw no fuel so the regulator appears to still be doing the job. So thats the latest on what I have tried, I hope I gave enough info to have help to find the cause of my baby to not run like she should, thanks guys and I await your feedback. THANKS AGAIN!!!
