Hello all,

I'm having an issue with my turn signals at the moment. It seems that neither the external turn signals nor the turn signal indicators on my dash are working. So in essence when I turn on my signals, nothing happens. In addition to this, I was informed on the way home today that my brake lights aren't working either.

My first thought was to check the fuses. Both of the fuses were fine. I'm thinking that the issue most likely is caused by something that both systems share in common however my knowledge of automotive electronics is rather limited.

Is there anything that I should check or be looking for before I take it to a shop? What are the possible causes of this problem? Finally, if I do have to take it to a shop what should I expect to pay?

ironically I just dealt with a similar problem on both my sunfire and cavalier. both times it was the turn signal module. The module is located on the steering column. its the piece that has the turn signal/cruise control/headlight arm attached to it. look for a broken wire. if theres no broken wires, then the module itself is burnt out. go to your local salvage yard or parts store and get a new one
