I'm reassembling my '66 Lemans chassis and have two rubber bumpers left over. Unfortunately, my picture is not uploading properly.

They are round rather than rectangular. They are in a sandwich bag that my son labeled "Front Frame". I already have (rectangular) jounce bumpers on the front side of my front lower control arms and also on the rear axle.

Where do these round ones go?

There sould be a hole in the frame under the upper control arms, they prevent metal to metal contact between the upper arm and frame. When I replaced mine I jacked up under the lower control arm to get clearance, partially inserted the bumper in the hole and slowly lowered the car so that the upper arm forced the bumper fully into the hole.

So I guess they are actually rebound bumpers. I was looking in the wrong places.

I'll have to wait until the engine & body are back on or get more creative for compressing the springs.

Thank you.

alternative solution

I installed the bumpers easily by pressing down on the frame with a bucket loader.
1. Protect the frame from scratches, and lay a board across front.
2. With wheels on ground, press down on frame a little.
3. Lube the bumpers and set them in place. Do not try to get them seated in holes. Just lay them in place and get your hand out of there.
4. If the bumper won't stay in place, you're over-compressing. Back off, and the A-arm will hold it.
5. Let the springs uncompress, and the bumpers pop right in.

Glad you got it done but most people dont have a bucket loader sitting around the garage! LOL
