I was givin this 79 bird, it's got espirte emblems on both front fenders, t-tops, looks like a 400 engine/auto and is painted gold, origin paint. the rim are the five star spoke(like the boss mustang rims). the hood has no opening. Help, with what this thing is if anyone knows..thanks

What you will need to do is get the vin number on the dash near the front window, as well as a cowl tag (optional but extra information) which is located inside the engine bay on the driver side inner fender. Its up by the hinge. If I`m correct, no esprit had t-tops. (Atleast for `80). Esprit also had a regular hood. No vents, shaker, or turbo bulge.

the first character in the VIN says its a Pontiac
the second character says its a Firebird Esprit
the third and forth characters says its a 2Dr Hardtop
the fifth says its a Pontiac 301 engine
the 6th character says its 1979
the 7th character says it was made in Van Nuys, Calif.
the rest of the numbers are the sequential code for the VIN

To check if it is the original engine look at the pad in front of the passeger side cylinder head on the block you should see the last numbers of the VIN, 144716

anyone interested, call, 406-244-0129. this is a good project car, little rust on the floor pans, body is good, rear spoiler, engine sounds good and never been apart. t-tops good all original paint. don't have time to mess with it..call glen for more info
