The car is scary Fun, only 18,000 miles, slate metallic gray (Sly Gray) 2006 LS2 V8, 400hp, 5-speed manual. Conversion #024 out of aprox 100. I always wanted one but could not afford them when new. Picked it up yesterday, still grinning like a little kid at Christmas. My wife just roller her eyes and said she is going to make sure my life insurance is paid up from time to time.

Good for you Jeff , never heard of this conversion before, if yours runs 12.8 in the quarter, then I wonder what the LS7 one would run with another 105 HP?

Stay out of trouble .....................Jeff;)

After driving it to work yesterday I can't imagine what a 505hp LS7 verison would be like, and do not want to know what the top of the line supercharged LS7 putting out almost 900 hp.
The car is scary fun, part of it may be tire related as it still has the stock Goodyear tires and they were not that great traction wise and are now 11 years old. So this spring it will get some fresh rubber more suited to the drivetrain. The PO took fantastic car of it cosmetically, but just changed the oil and rotated the tires every spring. It now has 18,000 miles with the same 11 year old dexcool and hoses, and I don't even know what air filter it has. So it will need some PM before it comes back out this spring.
It may come back out 1 more time this Saturday if the weather holds as it is supposed to be above freezing and dry. Depends if they salt the roads for the snow flurries we are supposed to get today/tonight. No accumulation expected but you never know.
I drove it home on surface streets in traffic just to see what it acts like in stop and go traffic. It drives much better than the 1st series Viper I had a chance to drive when they 1st came out. That car drove like it was trying to kill me!!!! with the big V10 up front, and the live axle rear suspension. Both cars can spin the tires at will, but the Solstice is much more controllable, the steering is light, and quicker. I never thought I would get the chance to own one, things just fell into place very fast and at the right time for what I consider a bargain price.
I am still grinning like a little Kid on Christmas!

Unfortunatly I think 2 cars are going to have to find new homes, the 69 Firebird Sprint, and my long neglected 71 Lemans Station wagon Project.

be very carefull with 11 year old tires, they will look perfect on the outside but they harden and can dry rot internally. You can find dozens of stories about tire failure on collectible low mileage cars that had tires over 10 year old.

All the brand name tire manufactors limit their tires to 6 years now........................;)

Dont be foolish like Paul Walker and his driver................................
( driving fast on 9 year old tires )

I hadn't planned on it but thanks for the reminder guys. I am planning on replacing them before I really start driving it this spring.

I also found out that the Pontiac Oakland Museum in Pontiac IL recently had Mallet Solstice #023 donated to them, not only was it converted just before mine, but it is a LS7 car.

I don't know much about it but I may have to visit it.

Very nice, good for you ! I know I would be smiling from ear to ear driving that. Let me know if you decide to sell one of the other two cars you mentioned.
