After driving it to work yesterday I can't imagine what a 505hp LS7 verison would be like, and do not want to know what the top of the line supercharged LS7 putting out almost 900 hp.
The car is scary fun, part of it may be tire related as it still has the stock Goodyear tires and they were not that great traction wise and are now 11 years old. So this spring it will get some fresh rubber more suited to the drivetrain. The PO took fantastic car of it cosmetically, but just changed the oil and rotated the tires every spring. It now has 18,000 miles with the same 11 year old dexcool and hoses, and I don't even know what air filter it has. So it will need some PM before it comes back out this spring.
It may come back out 1 more time this Saturday if the weather holds as it is supposed to be above freezing and dry. Depends if they salt the roads for the snow flurries we are supposed to get today/tonight. No accumulation expected but you never know.
I drove it home on surface streets in traffic just to see what it acts like in stop and go traffic. It drives much better than the 1st series Viper I had a chance to drive when they 1st came out. That car drove like it was trying to kill me!!!! with the big V10 up front, and the live axle rear suspension. Both cars can spin the tires at will, but the Solstice is much more controllable, the steering is light, and quicker. I never thought I would get the chance to own one, things just fell into place very fast and at the right time for what I consider a bargain price.
I am still grinning like a little Kid on Christmas!
Unfortunatly I think 2 cars are going to have to find new homes, the 69 Firebird Sprint, and my long neglected 71 Lemans Station wagon Project.
