I just bought a 68 firebird and I wanted to add a rear lip spoiler to the end. Although I'm unsure how the process works - do I order the parts and take it to an auto body specialist for him to put on, or do I have him order it for me and then have him do it? Or is it easy enough to do myself? Just wonderin cause its my first car I never modified a car before not sure what to do.

PS: Is it better to buy just the spoiler or do buy the trunk lid with the spoiler already attatched to it? And if I want to paint it - how do I find the exact paint color that matches my car? Thanks.

well u should check out year one .com also it is easy to install a spoiler u just need a drill and some hand tools u will be done in two hours tops but if u replacing it and it is pre drilled u will be done in 30 min

You can by the spoiler you want from many different places example JCwhitney, and install it your self, paint it first. their is a paint code number on that vehicle, its located in the door latch area or in the trunk that will be the factory paint, if that car has been painted a different color go to NAPA, they should have a hand held pigment reader that will match it .
take your time, follow the instructions, you'll do fine.

Getting just the spoiler would be the least expensive way.

Year One sells them:

Any body shop can match paint. Even if it is faded they can match it. You can have them spray it or you can buy the paint and do it yourself.

Year one sells a spoiler that is the exact OEM size.

Any body shop can color match the paint even if it's faded. You can have them do the work or just get the paint and do it yourself. The Year One spoiler comes with a template so you can drill the holes in their proper location.
