I have a 2003 Pontiac Sunfire with the 2.2 ltr Echotec. I bought the car cheap knowing there some issues.
1. Check engine light was on. So it came back with codes PO440 & PO442. I replaced the gas cap because the factory one was dry rotted and in bad shape. Then I replaced the vent solenoid. Both very easy and inexpensive repairs. Cleared up the codes and passed emissions.
2. Replaced right front wheel bearing and front rotors. Pads were brand new. But it also would act up with the ABS system engaging when the brakes were applied at normal stopping. I got it diagnosed and right front ABS sensor was throwing a code. I took the sensor off which sits on the inside of the caliper. Cleaned it out with an air can. Plugged it back in and bam! Works perfect.
3. Power Windows didn't work. Bought a new switch and replaced the drivers side door regulator. Works perfect.
I'm writing this in hopes that it helps out anyone who might be having the same issues I had. Again, all of this was fairly cheap. I spent in total around $225.00 in parts.
