• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "1995 Trans Am" isn't going to indicate to anybody that you need help. However, "Need help with my 1995 Trans Am" will. Be as descriptive as you can. Please use common sense... I have a rare pontiac that most people have never heard of. I am in the proccess of restoring it but have had bad luck finding info on the car. It's an 89 Pontiac 6000 STE AWD. I know I know why restore a 89 6000, you can find a firebird or or grand prix anywhere just about, but I think this limited model is the only Pontiac and maybe GM awd car ever in production. So on the chance that some one here does know something I am all ears eh eyes, anywho, any info would be awsome.thx

Welcome aboard, Mitchell! Thank you for signing up! I remember seeing lots of those 6000 STEs back in the day. Post some pictures when you can. :)

The 6000 AWDs were very advanced cars for the time, with full-time AWD, ABS 4-wheel disc brakes, fully independent suspension, self-leveling rear suspension, and steering wheel radio controls. Every 6000 AWD had the 3.1L V6 / 3-speed automatic combo, as well as a gray interior. The ’89 STE AWDs only came in two colors: navy blue and maroon.

Pontiac built about 125 STE AWDs in 1988, 1,375 STE AWDs in 1989, and 2,500 (estimate) S/E AWDs in 1990. They were not common to begin with and are becoming increasingly rare.

Interesting trivia facts: The 6000 AWD rear drivetrain was designed with four-wheel steering in mind. Oldsmobile apparently was very close to releasing an AWD version of the Cutlass Ciera, the 6000’s corporate cousin. For more info and links check out http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pontiac_6000

And keep your AWD on the road – these are cool cars!
