Hi,

Is there a way to have your fog lights stay on while using your high beams?

Thanks for any tips.

I have an 07 Torrent and they don't work together. The functional reason is that fog lights are designed and positioned to shine low on the road so as not to reflect off the moisture in the air (fog) so you can see better in those conditions. The high beams (if used during fog) do the opposite by reflecting off water vapor in the air and impede vision, so having high beams on in true fog conditions defeats the purpose.

I was mostly wanting to keep to fog lights on when I use high beams in the country so I could see better.

On my 07, the foglights light up the pavement maybe 20 feet in front of the car at night. While it gives the appearance of being much brighter right in front of the car, I don't think it actually affects your visibility at a driving distance to a useful extent, especially if you are using high beams.

One thing I am noticing in the past couple of years is that many drivers are using fogs with their headlights at night, regardless of weather conditions. For most of us with less than perfect vision, even corrected, it makes it a lot harder to see due to glare when someone with fogs and headlights are on-coming on a clear night, or in our rear view mirrors.
