I have a 2009 Pontiac Torrent Podium Edition and am having issues with my key FOBs. I have replaced the battery in both FOBs, and re-paired them with my vehicle, but they continue to behave the same way. They will only work when very close to the vehicle, and sometimes only work when aimed at the passenger side near the front. I have no idea what the issue is. Any suggestions?

Thanks.

sounds like a receiver issue. Check the connections at the receiver for poor connection or corrosion.

i like the question but no reply, ive lost power from my remote fob too, replaced battery no change,i also realise this is a really old post,if nobody answers i get it !

Either the FOB has failed or the receiver has failed.
Easiest and cheapest route is replace the FOB.

Did your vehicle come with a remote when you purchased it?
If not a dealer has to set up the remote feature.
When the display comes up to Learn Remote ...., are you pressing the set/reset button as described on page 3-49 of the owners manual?
Looking at diagram receiver appears to be interior, rear.

learn remote key you press the check mark..[then remote key learning ACTIVE] appears, mine does not appear, that phrase ? then you press lock/unlock at same time for apprx. 15 sec and dune, but thats not the case, i cant get to that step for some reason, thats my problem, well one of them.
ill try pressing lock/unlock in learn remote phrase, ya still nothing im going to check receiver connections or radio wire connections later, thanks anyways.

would there be a line fuse on this receiver ,or any kind of fuses?

I asked you if you are pressing the set/reset button, you never answered the question.
Do you have the owners manual?

Yes I did press set/reset on the dash (check mark) and yes i have owners manual, next step remote key learning ACTIVE doesn’t show me this step

Try accessing the receiver to see if there is an issue with the connector, remove it, examine the contacts, and plug back in. I believe it is located behind the interior left quarter panel trim, try to confirm location.

you were right left quarter panel, plugs look fine, cleaned and plugged back in, no difference! is there away to test receiver

Maybe with a tool similar to a Tech 2.

ok thanks for your help, i appreciate it!
