Key fob question

I guess since I just posted a question, I might as well ask a second question also. When I bought my Montana, it only came with one keyless entry remote. I've bought another one. Is there a way for me to program it or does it really need to be programmed by a dealer? I've read that it's a dealer only process.

for the 03 montana you can program your own,but not sure about your year it should tell you this in your owners manual.

Besides the dealer, most that sell fobs can also program them. I recently went to an Ace Hardware and noticed that they sell fobs. I asked how much to program a fob to my car, he said, it was free with the fob. I told him that I already had a fob and he stopped talking to me. Never did find out how much to program. I think he was a little upset that he was cutting an ignition key for $2 instead of selling me one of his ignition keys for $60.
If you find a friendly service adviser at a dealer, they may do it for free if you are there for some other service.

The owner's manual says its a dealer only thing and I bought the fob on ebay so having the seller program it is not an option.

Call some locksmiths in your area. Some that do a lot of automotive work have the ability to program them, and are usually cheaper than the dealer.

I would recommend that you have your dealer program your key fob for you. It is also recommended that you take all key fobs with you when you go to your dealer for this. If you have any other questions please feel free to contact me anytime.
