Key is stuck in my 2005 Pontiac Aztek?

My key won't shut off all the way in my Aztek. It gets stuck in the 2nd postion and keeps the acc. on and runs down the battery. Is there any way to manually get the key to release so it will come out of the ignition? I've heard that there is a release in the steering colum somewhere but haven't been able to find it. any help would be great, Thanks!

Mine does that every now and then... try wiggling the shifter to the park position. That usually does it for me

Mine did this aswell. I finally targeted the problem to slaking the shifter into park. I found that it doesn't hit the switch when u do it since it is done electroniclu so iv started easing it into park and havnt had any problems since. Worked for me hope it does the same for u
