Only had the car a month and yesterday the remote no longer unlocks it. How will I get inside?! ;)
Haha. But seriously. Only 1 of the 2 they gave me worked in the first place, I assumed it had a dead batt. but after trying a new batt in both and neither works there must be another problem. Someone told me theirs had to be re-programmed at the dealer (Jeep G. Cherokee) but my owners manual just says replace the batt so I guess that's not the issue? Anything else I can check before I grab the KY and take it to a dealer. I got the car from a little mom-and-pop lot and the warranty is drivetrain only so they're not helping...

If you get a new remote it has to be programmed, the existing remote should not have to be reprogrammed. Have you tested the new battery with a voltmeter?

-Took the batt back to Radio Shack and had it tested. The issue is I'm worried the remote isn't the problem. Why would it just stop working?

Sometimes the contacts for the buttons get dirty. Pop it open and take out the battery, and see if it's clean in there. If there is oil or dirt, *very* carefully clean it out with a Q-tip. If you use a cleaner, use an electronics parts cleaner from Radio Shack or a reliable source of electronics or computer supplies. In particular look at the places on the PC board where the buttons contact it. Do NOT use a pencil eraser because it will abrade away the contacts.
