I continue to hear a knocking noise from the rear of the car, it almost sounds like a tailpipe hitting the bottom of the car. Has anyone ever experienced this sound, and how to fix it?

What year is your car? the 2006 model year is known for a "clunking noise" when starting from a stop, manual trans cars are more prone to it than automatic's
When does it happen? like slowing down, or over bumps?
My 2006 manual trans car does it, my 2009 manual trans does not. GM says it is normal if you have a 2006 when it happens accelerating from a stop.
Has it always done it? or is it a new noise?
