I have a Late 1998 sunfire (with the plastic intake and throttle body facing upwards not aluminum and facing forwards) and i have to swap the motor because my head cracked so its gutless and misses like crazy. I got a motor thinking it was the right one but when my brother brought it home it was the older style (out of a 95). what i want to know is how dificlut is it going to be for me to swap the motor to the older style. i do have a 1995 parts car with complete wiring harness and computer so any help would be appreciated.. thanks

To be honest. You're going have to swap everything from the 95 to the 98. The ECM, the interior wiring harness, engine compartment wire harness, instrument cluster, and so on. The main reason for this is the sensors are in different locations compared to the 98 sensor locations. Not to mention the completely different intakes between the two. Also it would be best to use the tranny from the 95 as well. Due to the fact that it's a OBD gen1 car But that might not be necessary if the 95 has the OBD2 connector. Some of the late model 95's were switched over to OBD2 because they had to get ready for the 96 model year. Also you can go to www.chevycavilerworld.com for an adapter plate they make to use the newer intakes on the older motors. As well as other performance parts for that motor. Hope this helps.
