Pontiac grand am? i have a 97 pontiac grand am GT. I have a Jet chip power control which is suppose to give me the best air fuel mixture for my car. My cars idles high sometimes when it is started cold, and even sometimes while driving. The check engine light came on a while ago telling me it has a lean fuel mixture. I also have a cool air intake, and Summit 40,000 volt coils. Would purchasing a high flow electric fuel pump solve my problem. I suspect i am getting too much air, and not enough fuel

A lot of research goes into building a chip,so if it was installed right it shouldn't be leaning out. You did open up your air flow and produced a hotter spark (both can cause a leaner burn). You car's computer should compensate for this by giving it more fuel. However if your fuel pump is tired or your filter is getting plugged, it may still not get enough fuel. I would suggest checking your fuel pressure and seeing if it is to specs. Did it do this as soon as you installed the chip? If it worked for a while and then started acting up,it could be a faulty sensor ( possibly AFI or MAF). High flow pumps are generally only need if you put bigger injectors on (mainly when you put bigger turbos on ) Your stock fuel system is sufficient for the chip, because the chip was designed to work with it. The three things that could be reducing your fuel flow are , Pump, Filter and Fuel Pressure Regulator. You might be able to get away with adding an after market pressure regulator and slowly increasing the pressure until it is right or setting to the proper pressure with a gauge.
