Ugh...i'm not finding any information on hooking up my iPhone/iPod to my stock 2006 Torrent stereo. I tried the wireless transmitter but they stink. Looked on Crutchfield and while they have a nice Pioneer headunit I'd like to get, you have to end up spending so much more just to get everything working right. $99 for the XM adapter, $79 for the unit so that OnStar and the chimes work, $99 so that the steering wheel control works. A $450 HU ends up costing almost 750.00 just so you have all the functionality of the stock stereo.

Is there ANYTHING available that hooks up to the stock '06 stereo that lets you play an iPod through it? Seems there's stuff for the '07-'09 but not '06.

My dad got a new Terrain with USB that I messed with today. So easy!

Yes, there are fm plugin radio transmitters, most have a USB, SD card and 3.5 plug. The unit plugs into the 12volt outlet and you set the transmit frequency. I tried one using the USB to charge the iPhone and the audio cable plugged into the audio out. I found there was a sound like crashing waves in the background, but once I unplugged the USB it worked fine. The old transmitter units would overheat and cutout but the newer ones have fixed that problem. These fm transmitters run about $10- $15 and you can listen to your own music. The new iPhone 5 does draw more current and I haven't checked it with one of it's chargers and the fm transmitter yet, but the fm unit has one big drawback. If you set it for a local area where you have an open frequency you might find the radio picking up a station that overlaps your frequency, once you get over 50 miles from home.

update

I checked it with the iphone and you can charge via the usb and listen via the 3.5 audio plug. But again you have two cables it would be nice if the usb would accept the audio also here is a pix of the transmitter cheap $10
