My LeMans runs rich at all speeds and poor acceleraqtion. Blue Racer Cam WG1113K Grind Intake 270 degrees, duration, Lift 107 and Exhaust/280 degrees duration, Lift 117. Cam Train was indexed. Holley 600. Have tried Quadrajets and Edelbrock and no change. Am I over-cammed?

Your information is not clear, you cannt have a lift of 107 or 117. Lift typcially would be a number like .450 or .500, it's a fraction of an inch not a whole number. What is the duration of the cam at .050 lift? What compression ratio, what is the initial distributor timing and total timing. Did you just put the cam in or was it running fine and then started running rich? What intake are you running, which cylinder heads?

Pardon the error. Was reading the lift at 0.050 Intake. Thanks for the link. The WG1113 cam specs are the same as those on my spec sheet.

XS Block, Compression Ratio: 9.2:1, HD Dual Springs, small valve. Org camshaft was a 9777254. Did not read the casting numbers yet.

I indexed the whole train, but still the dist must be set at between 14-18 DBTDC in order for it not to ping. Acceleration is mediocre with lots of black smoke.

Engine had original 2bbl with cast iron manifold. I swapped it out back in 1995for an Edelbrock Torker and a quadrajet. It ran fine until five years ago when I swapped out the cam and switched to a Edelbrock Performer carb. Things went to hell from there. I shifted back to quadrajet, but nothing, I now have the Holley. I thought a simple swap would do it. Clearly the easter-egging is not working. Folks are telling me the cam is not the issue.

So if I'm following your changes, you now have a Holley. Which list number is the Holley? Did you ever have a backfire through the carburetor and possibly blew out the power valve? When the engine is idling do you see gas dripping off the primary boosters into the carburetor? If the carburetor has externally adjustable floats have you checked the float level? Have you made any changes to the carburetor or just installed it out of the box?

The Holley is an oddball. List 7456 #2168 which makes it pretty unique. It also has a 6904MB on the base plate. I am searching the Holley site for specifics.I tore it apart once a year ago, but will go back in and inspect for the blowout valve. Made no changes and did not re-jet, but will check what is in there.

I take it from the discussion, you are leaning to the carb as the culprit. Others have suggested going back to the Rochester, others have said its the gasket below the carb that is the culprit. The Edelbrock Torker manifold is an open square. should I get a four chamber phenolic spacer?

I still dont know why my timing is so off. I cant see why the carb would be driving this. After this weekend, I will begin tearing down the upper end to sort this out.

I have to get it ready for the Ocean City Cruize-in on 21 May.

to start with a 7456 is a 4360 series carb rated at 450 CFM which is too small for a 350. A good size Holley would be 600 CFM or the quadrajet which is around 700 CFM. If you have the funds get rid of the Torker, you need a good dual plane manifold such as a Performer. This is a link showing how to adjust the carb:
www.holley.com/data/Products/Technical/199R8015.pdf

are you sure the choke opens completely when the engine is warm? The spacer is not going to correct a situation of running way too rich. Do you see gas dripping into the primary or secondard side of the carburetor when its idles? Is the float adjusted correctly? I do not believe this carb uses a power valve.

Thanks, I'll focus on the carb as I have an extra Quadrajet.

Status so far: Plugs clean, but a slight reddish tint on ceramic. Cylinder pressures all at 160 psi. Timing chain still good and alignment marks are spot on. No excessive wear on cam or lifters.

Have not cracked open the carb yet as i still cant find a rebuid kit for it. Thanks for the correction. Regardless, as I see it, nothing should affect the timing to that degree (must be set at 18 BTDC) unless the cam is too hot. am awaiting the 9066 cam to come in. Will be at Carlisle this Sat looking for a manifold. Any thoughts?

You can order the rebuilt kit from www.summitracing.com. What distributor are you using, original Delco with points or something else? What is the initial timing set for at idle with any vacuum line to the distributor disconnected? Do you have dial back timing light?
