License Plate lights on constantly when car is on

Lets get all of the details of the car taken care of first.

• 2000 Pontiac Sunfire GT Convertible
• 2.4L Engine, Vin Code T
• Automatic transmission
• Vehicle has been in a front collision and was repaired before I got the car

Ok now for the weird part: When I get in the car and turn the car to the ON position (not start) the PONTIAC letting across the back deck lights up and illuminates the tag light. The day time running lights are not on at this point since the car is still in park.

Is this standard operation for the License plate lights or should they only come on when the car's headlights are turned on like the back tail lights?

I have had this car for almost two years and this is the first I have noticed that this is happening.

Lol, it says nothing in the owners manual about the tag lights. I have a friend that owns a used car lot. He gets them in every once and a while so I will go and talk to him about it. I think I will just rewire it to the headlight switch anyway like it should be.

Thanks... I wil not worry too much about it then... Though I think I will wire it to the headlight switch so it will not be on constantly...
