i have a 95 sunfire se 2.2. 5 speed manual. the car runs fine except after i shift in to 5th gear. sometimes it can go about 80 and hold the speed but usually it cant break 60. does any one know why i have a loss of power??? thanks

Hi,
The first thing I would try is, changing the fuel filter, it is located at the rear of the car by the fuel tank, dont forget to remove the fuel pump relay, under the hood, and run the car untill the eng. stalls, to releive the fuel pressure in the lines.
It's a good idea not to be smoking or have a trouble light that might break if it gets some gas on it. "Good Luck"

No Power?

Hi,
I really dont think it would be the plugs, wires, or coil pack. does the car have a miss? or does it kind of studder?
The next thing to try would be your air filter, but only if yours looks plugged, if thats not it you could have a weak fuel pump, not supplying enough fuel at high rpm.
The pump pressure can be checked with a gauge by a mechanic.
The eng. itself might be getting weak, did you check the compression of the cylinders?
Do you have a check eng. light on?, just thought of another thing that could cause your problem, a partially plugged or restricted exhaust, plugged converter, bent pipe, ect.
Just a few things to check, hope it helps.
Good Luck,

hey man thanks i 'll check it out 2morrow, no it does not miss or studder at all so i wont worry about the plugs wires or coil pack. Also my air filter is brand new.
thanks

Hey,
