I have a 2001 Grand Am SE and the low coolant light randomly flashes for ~3 seconds before turning off again. I've checked the coolant level and it appears to be at the correct level. Any idea? Faulty censor?

Correct, sounds like the sensor.

Kinda what I was afraid of. I have poor luck with pontiacs and sensors. They just don't like to agree with me.

after you do what melsg5 stated, and it still does that you might want to see if the floater inside the tank is getting stuck from debris in the coolant system..does it turn on when you make hard turns,u turns ect.?

low coolant light stays on.

I have tested the sensor in the coolant tank. It is open if the level is low and closed when the level is proper. I used an ohm meter to test it.

I have 13 vdc on one lead in the sensor connector.

If I use a jumper to simulate the sensor being closed the low coolant light stays on.

Has any one else had this problem?
