I have an 89 formula 350 and I've got a 383 stroker short block with-scat rotating assemly(all forged)+balanced, 10:5:1 compression, 4-bolt main aluminum dart block, custom ground roller cam(6.20 lift,106 LSA), springless valvetrain, AFR aluminum heads, edelbrock LT1 intake, mallory unilite dist., block decked to 0 clearance...$$$, 58mm throttle body. The motor is unassembled but I expect around 600 horsepower (na), I will be getting a 12-bolt and a T56 next as well as a procharger kit. My question is-should I put this project motor aside and build the new LSX block to pump over a thousand horsepower? The car will never be sold and it has and will be used to race on the street for the sole purpose of taking money from other racers. I don't mind spending a lot of money now to make sure I will get it back and then some later. The ONLY thing about the car that appears aftermarket are the rear tires and the roll cage, I plan on a sleeper. Consider, I will be using my procharger regardless

Build an LSx stroker with a set of ET heads and Fast 92/92 intake setup. Scrap the 12 bolt idea and get a Dana S60 from Moser. Run a twin disk clutch such as the McCloed or Exedy. If you are going to run a procharger then the D1SC is the way to go but you're not going to make the power running 10.5 compression. Drop to around 8.5 and boost the hell out of it. Callies crank, Lunati rods and Diamond pistons. Have Comp Cams custom grind a fast ramp rate cam for your setup.
