hey everyone, new here and i have a few questions.

I have a '72 LeMans with the 5.7L 350 in it, and it seems to be the timing is off as i have a huge misfire that seems to be coming from the right bank. i need to find out what the timing is and if there is a vacuum hose connected to the distributor that needs to be removed when setting the timing.
i had a shop take care of a leak that was behind the water pump and they installed a new pump and hardware and replaced the timing accessories and what not, and ever since i got it back, it felt under-powered and gas mileage just dumped. any help is appreciated!!!!

First, since you have points, you have to set the dwell angle with a meter to 30 degrees. Then using a timing light with the vacuum line to the distributor disconnected set the timing to 10 BTDC. Not sure from your discription what timing accessories are? Do you mean timing chain and gears?

yes, what i meant by timing accessories are the chain and gear.
and also where can i find a dwell meter to check or set the dwell on the car. and when i set the timing do i have to get cylinder one to tdc?

auto parts stores sell dwell meters as well as sears. I think based on your questions you should invest in a basic book on auto repair. If the car ran ok till the shop changed the water pump and timing chain how come you didnt go back to them? Timing being off will not effect one bank of cylinders versus the others. You attach the power cords of the timing light to the battery and the signal wire to the cylinder number one spark plug wire. You observe the timing mark on the harmonic balancer and after loosening the distributor hold down clamp slightly turn the distributor till the mark on the balancer lines up with the 10 degree BTDC mark on the timing tab.

well it sounded like it was the right bank, but altogether it sounds horrible, but i cant take it to the shop because its closed down.
