My company is giving me a new Pontiac Torrent with the FWD 3.4L V6. I want to use it to pull

my boat.? My company is giving me a new Pontiac Torrent with the FWD 3.4L V6. I want to use it to pull my boat that is 19.5ft and weighs 3300lbs. The only relevant upgrade option I can choose is to pay $1600 out of pocket for the All Wheel drive option. Do you think the AWD upgrade will make enough of a difference to justify putting out the cash? Do you think I NEED the AWD?

All wheel drive will not help you pull a trailer.
The main drivers for your ability to pull a trailer is actually the brakes and the suspension. The engine and drive wheels are not that important.

Welcome to the site!

AWD would be of some help on the steeper boat ramps, and it's always a nice option to have for winter weather. Whether it's worth the premium price is something you have to decide.

I suggest to first check to be absolutely sure that the vehicle is rated for both the total weight and the tongue weight of your towed load, and if so, what, if any, special considerations such as trailer brakes or load-distributing hitches may be required.
