My first Fiero

Picked up a great looking '86 Fiero from a friend and it is in great shape. Looks like new axles, brake pads, and many more upgrades. It is a 4 cyl 'Iron Man', 5 speed manual, and once had A/C but now the compressor, dash controls are missing. Seem like all the plumbing and condensor are still present. Don't really need much A/C in SW Montana @ 5300' above sea level. Sun roof too. Waterpump went out the fourth day but has been replaced. It is in the 'hospital' now where I am getting the parking brake to work. Rebuilt one rear caliper (wasn't necessay), and doing dash work. Replacing instrument bulbs, and the 'Temp/Fuel' gauge. Next I'll put in a CD, AM/FM machine.
. . .I have big feet and the car is most fun with my right shoe off. Has anyone ever moved the brake and clutch pedals about 3/4" to the left?
. . . It seems like I would not have had to do anything to the rear brake calipers, only move the lever (18 mm nut) on the backing plate to remove the slack. I can see where the parking brake cable to the right rear is new and evidentally too long. Is there any slack removing hardware for this (where the factory adjuster can then take over?).

If the car has the wrong cable, check a site like the www.fierostore.com for the correct cable. Good luck with your new car.

I have an idea on how to build a 'slack remover' using two small 'Crosbys' (small cable clamps) and a piece of steel w/2 half circles.
. . . The 'new appearing' right parking brake cable is shiney and has a crimped swedge between it and the 'old' cable coming out of the factory adjuster. If I had or knew someone with that type crimper I could shorten it and recrimp it.
