Doesnt sound major....not saying it isnt but it sounds like something small. i would go over all the fuses check if there's some under the hood.
Also some cars have a fuel pump saftey button. sometimes hidden behind a removable panel always inside the car i'v seen them in the glove box and in the trunk had an SUV it was in the very back on the side about a 2 by 2 panel that poped out there's a small red button if it's poped up you have to push it to reset it.

If that doesnt work you could narrow it down by pulling a plug out and resting it on something metal and hook the plug wire up to it and have someone crank it over to see if it's getting spark. if it is then put it back in and leave the plug wire off and crank it over for like 10 seconds while pumping the gas and then pull it out to see if its covered in gas. sometimes you cant see the gas on it but you can smell it.
That should at least give you an idea of what to look for.
Good luck hope it turns out to be something simple!!

try tapping on the bottom of the tank, if it starts after doing that you probably need a new fuel pump. This will only work if you have a fuel pump in the tank. don't be afraid to tap on it pretty hard.
