Need help with 97 sunfire, fan not running

I recently bought a 1997 sunfire, i noticed it started overheating and checked the fluids to rule that out. I then realized that the fan does not turn on. I know I can hardwire it to run constantly when the car is on, or get a switch put in but I really would rather steer away from those options. Wondering if anyone has had this problem, and how they fixed it. Thanks in advance!

Check first for a blown fuse then you have to determine if the fan motor works by applying power directly to it. If the fuse is good and the motor works check the fan relay.
