need opinions with a setup

ok i have a 87 TA im about to put a sbc 400 n it i want to b able to really smoke some tires but i still want to get decent gas mileage not the best but decent should i keep it stock or what add ons could i do cam headers carb heads gears tranny all opinion appreciated lemme kno what u guys think

cam, bigger carb, higher numberical gears, will reduce gas mileage, headers, heads, 6 speed increase mileage

forget about gas mileage if you want any power.....and if you want to really smoke the tires, you need that power of a motor that has the big stuff. i have a 350 in mine that's got the big stuff.....so there goes my gas mileage right there...but it will light up the tires.

Ls based v8 and a 6 speed would have the best mileage.
