Hey all, I'm new to this forum and I'm hoping to get some help on an install problem I'm having. I have a 66 Lemans and I installed a SBC 383 in it the other day with a 700r4 tranny. So here's where I ran into an issue. I can't seem to get the headers to fit properly, both full length headers are touching the chassis after I met them to the heads and put two bolts in snug. On top of that the power steering pump (on the drivers side) doesn't fit. I have a short water pump style bracket set. The power steering pump won't fit between the block and the steering gear box. Actually, everything seems to be a really tight fit under the hood. The chassis for the Chevelle and Lemans are supposed to be the same in 66 so I'm confused. Thanks in advance for any help!
A little more detail:
1: 66 chevelle frame mounts and engine mounts
2: Short water pump brackets for all accessories
3: 700r4 transmission
4: flowtech ceramic full length headers
5: Pro-Comp aluminum heads

trans dapt lists a kit that you may need 9596

Thanks Mel! I took a look at the mounts you're talking about. There's still quite a lot the engine has to move. More so than the mounts will allow. I'm still messing with it to try and find a good place for it to mount. I'm just confused as to why I have to do this at all since it's the same chassis as a Chevelle. Will update with any discoveries.

You are 100% positive you got the correct frame mounts?

Yeah, I wish that wasn't the case lol. I can take some pictures and post them up.

any chance you have the wrong motor mounts, I believe there are tall and short mounts
