new guy got a question

hello every one, new guy from SC. i have found a guy that has 3 fieros for sale. a V6 automatic a I4 manual and an I4 automatic. ive been looking into the 3800SC swap and everything ive been reading is more what involved in the swap and not whats needed to begin with.

basically my question is does it need to be an original V6 car or can i do it with a I4? i ask because i really want the manual (and its the nicest car) but if i cant do that than ill settle for the automatic.

You can use either a V-6 or an I4 Fiero for the swap. But going manual, an already manual car would be easier and it would be better to use a V-6 manual transaxle. Since you did not state what years the vehicles are, The 1984 will need some harnesses routed differently and the decklid needs to be a later version. 1988 is popular due to the suspension resdesign and better brakes.

Since you want to go manual, The I4 with the manual would be the chioce. Then all you need is a V-6 manual transaxle and it's slave cylinder (the 5-spd getrag is the most popular). The clutch pedal and other things related to a manual shift are already in the car. The way I did my first swap was I grabbed another cradle and built it up with the engine and trans while I still drove my car. Then swapped cradle assemblies in a weekend.

FYI - It is not very difficult to convert an automatic Fiero into a manual Fiero. I did it to my car when I did my swap. You just need the parts from a manual Fiero to swap over.
