My first car at 16 was a 68 GTO, my dad sold when I went into the USAF!

Anyhow, just got a 2000 Grand AM GT Sedan with Ram Air.

Motherinlaw gifted us the car, hadnt been driven much in last year.

I charged the battery, aired the tires, got the brakes unfroze and changed out some of the lights, still have to change passenger side headlamp, its in the box in the garage.

Just looking for some general advice on best places to get the best parts at good prices..

My plans are to replace the stock chrome wheels with 17's, and upgrade the brakes, Whats considered the best brake upgrades for this car for the money?

just rotors and pads, or are their better replacement calipers out there too?

Car has 89k miles and everything works but the light on the CC switch, is that hard to fix....the ON light on the left side.

Unless you intend to do autocross or track driving stick with the stock parts and paint the calipers the color of your choice.

Supposedly the brakes had just been fixed recently and they are not very good for stock parts!..I do drive the toll road here with 70mph limits and like good brake feel. I do drive harder then most, between my superbike experience and Autobahn time.

Thanks for commenting!..

try www.baer.com or www.wilwood.com but check the stock ones first dont rely on what you were told.

^^ Mel x2. I put new rotors on my 2000 GT and new pads (also had to replace tires since they were pretty beaten) when I bought mine. It was all stock level not "performance" nor "heavy duty". I had to do some hard braking on I-20 - ~70 down to 25-30 mph and it was very quick at that (was dry and hot).

Edit: nice color lol I bought the same one but it is the coupe version, also rebuild the engine and painted it. Doubt you would need a rebuild but mine had 190k and bearings were worn out and the car was neglected. Word of advise, GM had those crappy lower intake manifold gaskets in there and you may want to change them to something better if it had not been done yet.

Richard you know the name of the color? I grabbed some touchup paint said dark green but was totally wrong color...got a couple scratches to fix..

Its what I call a hunter or british racing green type metallic.

Yes "spruce green metallic" color code is U422G. The color code can be found on the spare tire cover (under it on the side that faces the tire)
