• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "1995 Trans Am" isn't going to indicate to anybody that you need help. However, "Need help with my 1995 Trans Am" will. Be as descriptive as you can. Please use common sense... I just joined my first forum, in the hope of getting some helpful information on my recently bought 02 Grand Am GT. My favorite Pontiac was my 1974 Bonneville, bullet proof but not rust proof.
My grand am was recently purchased for $2,300. Very clean and loaded. mileage is 146,000 and the 3.4 doesn't have the lifter noise that so many 3.4s have when first started. My tranny is slipping however. Fine when cold, but once warm, it will slip in the 2000-3000 range forcing me to give it more gas to downshift, where at 4,000rpm it grabs once more. When accelerating hard, the rpms will jump up then come down and grab-clutch plates right?- and rocket me forward. The Mechanic dealer I bought it from is a great guy and said that if the solenoid is not the issue, then he will put in a used tranny, essentially making his sale a wash. any other ideas?

thanks

Welcome to the forum. If you dont know when the transmission last had the filter and fluid changed, try that.
