Nice forum.

I recently purchased a 1976 Grand Lemans (a couple pictures are on the gallery) for a very reasonable price. I have always liked the looks of the "A"-body GM products. I have sent away for the Ames and other catalogs and really haven' decided which way to go for this car. '73 GTO Judge concept car or a 1977 Can Am clone? I don't really care for the Lemans sport stripes, so I probably won't go that way. A couple of questions for the forum.

Anyone from the Las Vegas area out there? Does anyone repro the Naca (sp) hood? Does anyone repro the Can spoiler? Any help or advise would be appreciated!!

Welcome Easy...

I own a Can Am and have been involved with several Can Am and LeMans groups over the years.

A few answers to your questions.

A '73 Judge concept would entail changing the rear taillights since they were a one-year only design. It would probably cost more than your vehicle is worth.

Since it's a Grand LeMans it shares more in common with the interior with the '77 Can Am. And no, they don't reproduce the spoiler. However, several have been made using CA spoilers to make the molds. The guy doing the body work on my CA is working with a fiberglass guy he knows to do just that (as well as make the scoop and base). What engine and tranny?

They also are not reproducing the NACA/NASA hoods, though several do pop up on eBay now and again. A better avenue is to check with other '73-'77 Pontiac A-body owners, though the front end design of the '76 and '77 models doesn't work with the hoods ('76/'77 are flat whereas the '73-'75 have the headlight bulge on the hoods...and those were the years they made the scooped hoods. You'd have to cut them out and graft them onto your hood to make it work).
