Hi everyone. I just bought a 1971 Pontiac Lemans 4dr hardtop. It has 59K original miles and has the original interior that is immaculate. I purchased from a master mechanic at Ford dealership. He replaced bushings, sway bars, new brakes, converted A/C and new shocks and replaced all hoses and belts. He put a $450 dual exhaust on the car and it runs great.

What I need to know if what are the orignal color schemes of the 71 Lemans. We are looking for green shades. Do you know where I can see the shades and can order the paint. We are getting the car repainted.

Thx
Rita

On a 71 there should be a metal tag on the cowl under the hood on the driver's side. On the tag will be a 2 digit # with the letters PNT. This is the original paint code. Any auto paint supply will be able to mix it for you in whatever type paint you want. They will also have the color chips for you to see the color before they mix it.
If the car really is as nice and as clean as you describe, it would be nice to repaint the original color. It's even nicer when the original color is something you don't see much of today. Greens were popular back in the late 60's- early 70's but I think most of these survivors wind up repainted in other colors.
