I recently replaced my power steering pump in my 2001 Aztek and there seems to be a wide variety of pumps you could get for it ranging from 60 bucks up to 350. I went with the lower end AutoZone true grade endurance, power steering pump For 73 bucks. Once I had it in and I bled the air out according to the instructions, I still have a humming whining noise and a little bit of a shutter when you turn. I thought it was something else like maybe hub bearings or the trans axle, so I took it to the Buick dealership and had them check it out and they swear up and down that it’s the Noisy power steering pump. They said after the Aztek was discontinued that they don’t manufacture the same pump they originally put in and GM’s answer to it is an AC Delco power steering pump. Sorry about having to write a book… But my question is has anyone found a power steering pump that is nice and quiet and works good for them?

The most expensive pump Rock Auto shows is $128. Just buy something other than the cheapest.

I don't have an answer, but wanted to add that I had a similar experience this past year as far as having the power steering pump replaced and the whine never went away, until I had it serviced again and paid for all the same stuff all over again. So now I'm wondering if I had the same reasons for my experience as you did. Thanks for sharing this info.
