i just recently bought my first trans am its a black 94 with t tops. i love the car so far but i have a few problems. my service engine light is on and it it has a ob1 computer. i took it to orileys and a local machanic and they said they couldnt get my computer to respond to there scanner. does anyone know what might cause this? o by the way i have most common tools and equipment availible to me, and even tho i dont claim to be a machanic of any kind i have done a few 350 engine swaps in trucks and one 318 swap in a dodge so im not a complete idiot..... just partially

Your car is obdI, most places only can scan obdII. The good news is that you can pull the codes yourself. If you jumper a and b terminals on the aldl port, the cel light will flash the codes. It should flash 12 first, then the code. Then google is your friend.

The aldl port is found basically under the dash below the steering wheel, or in that area. It looks like a sort of plug-in. I assume (although I could be wrong) that the ports are labeled left to right...a,b,c, etc. You can use a bent paper clip to jumper the ports. Turn the key to "on" and jumper the ports. The check engine light *should* flash once for "1", twice for "2", etc. with a pause between each number. IE: 12 would be flash pause flash flash.
