Hoy Sunfire owners. I'm here to see what common problems occur with these cars. I've owned GM vehicles from the start, and Pontiacs for quite some time. All but one of those were built before the corporate motor was shod under the hood. I currently own two '69 Firebirds, a 400 convertible, OHC-6 base coupe and a '01 Blazer Extreme.
My girlfriend and I have been looking for a car for her son. His Toyota had a catastrophic engine failure, so we're in the market for a reliable used car. We found a '00 Sunfire SE, one owner with 65,000 miles.
It's being sold through the dealer that it was purchased and serviced at. Also it's off the Lordstown assemble line. Seems to be a nice car, but as with any vehicle, they have they're weak points.
There's one thing that concerned me. When looking under the car, I saw two spots (each side) of heavy rust on the frame rails (for better description), above the rear axle.
All input will be given consideration before putting funds to the car. Thanks in advance!

do a "car fax", let the dealer pay if possible, things could have happened to the car the dealer doesnt know about or doesnt feel like sharing

I forgot to mention it did come with a Carfax report. It's as clean as the car. Hope to seal the deal soon, the salesman just called to let me know someone else was looking at it.
