Newbie from Tennessee

I just got a 1997 sunfire that has been sitting for about 3 years. It definitely needs a new transmission and probably a new motor. Any ideas where I can find either or both of those used for a decent price?

Why would it need both engine and tranny? Give more details. Local junk yard or ebay to start.

It has been sitting for 3 or 4 years and the motor hasn't been started since the day it was parked. I'm afraid its probably locked up.

It can't hurt to try. You can remove the spark plugs and pour some oil down inside the combustion chamber and let it sit for a day or two. Reinstall the spark plugs and try to crank the engine with a charged up battery. Make sure the oil is good in the oil pan first by checking the dipstick for water or contaminants. If it does start it will smoke at first so don't be alarmed unless it won't go away.

Also, if you are in southern Tenn, Corinth Mississippi has or had an awesome junkyard called Brown's. Prices were reasonable. Memphis has a pick-a-part yard as well.
