No Acceleration

I have an 03 Aztek and it has recently come to my attention that when I try to pass a car, pressing the gas to floor in order to pass, the car starts to bog down and starts jerking. I have to gradually increase speed to pass someone which obviously is not the best way to pass. Could this be the transmission or something to do with the fuel injectors? Pressing the gas gradually my car will go as fast as I want.

do you have a check engine light on? how many miles since the fuel filter was changed?

No the check engine light is not on. I don't know if the fuel filter has ever been changed. I had to put a new transmission in exactly one year ago.

I have the exact same issue with my 2004. This past weekend trying to kick it into passing gear it bogged down exactly as you described, i will be checking my fuel filter and exhaust
