No Brake Lights 2004 Grand Am

Have a 2004 Grand Am. Bulbs and fuses are all okay, tail lights and turn signals etc. all work, but NO BRAKE LIGHTS ON EITHER SIDE. Is there a switch on the pedal front and how does one get to for inspection or replacement. Whats wrong????

Old John T (pretty decent old farm mechanic but "out to lunch" on anything newer then 1950's lol)

Rotate the stop lamp switch counterclockwise until the travel stop has been reached.
Pull the stop lamp switch rearward.
Remove the stop lamp switch.
