Recently the car will not start sometimes. Some mornings its a slow crank and then fires up, other mornings a slow crank and nothing. I replaced the battery thinking that it was not holding a charge especially since it has not died on me indicating the alternator. And each time that it happens I have to get a jump from another car.

What could be causing this problem? What should I check to ensure that I can get the car to start every time?

Did you have the alternator checked under load?

I have not, could I have that done at Autozone or with a multimeter? If I can with a multimeter what setting would a have it at? Also, would I test at the battery or some where else?

You can test at the battery, the multimeter would be set for DC voltage at a scale where you can read between 0 and 20 volts or as close to that as possible. You want a reading at idle of around 13 to 14 volts.
