So I got a nice Grand Am GT 3.4 got 200k miles on it and I originally had a code for oil pressure switch I replaced it and it got me wondering what is my oil pressure so I go by a mechanical gauge and hook up to it the car runs good and makes no noise but I'm concerned about the oil pressure readings I am seeing I got a bunch of new parts for this car that I got a lot of money into and I'm not sure what is acceptable oil pressure I've been doing a lot of research and still can't find much about it on startup cold it's about 40 PSI after it warms up it settles down to about 30 and that's where it stays at idle it does go up as I rev it I just don't want to put a bunch of money in something that has problems I'm also going to put a timing chain in it it does have a oil leak and I I'm also going to put a timing chain in it it does have an oil leak so I didn't know if maybe that could play a part in the oil pressure issue if they're even is one LOL

If you have 30 at idle and it continues to go up there is no problem.

7-10 pounds pressure per 1000 rpm is the
average psi rule...

Idle pressure can be adjusted with thicker oil..

You can always shim the pressure spring in
the pump with thin washers or if you need more ...
