I've finally determined that the oil pump needs replacing on my 2.8 V6. I've found some posts on instructions on doing this, but I would like to know if there are any detailed videos out there that show step by step how to do this project in a "Shadetree Mechanic" environment. I'm very much a novice and do not have a engine hoist or special tools I may need. Thanks.

Its very rare for a pump to need replacing.. Because its 2 gears that spin together and push the oil. You might only need to replace the pick up tube. But still involves the pan being dropped.

That would be great if that is all what is wrong with my oil pressure issue. I guess I'll just have to remove the pan and see. Also, I'll most likely plastic guage the bearings just to see if there is an issue there. Thanks for the information.

another failure point on a pump is the pressure relieve spring

This could also be the sending unit to the guage reading faulty..
