Hello folks. I've been a long time lurker here, and have always been able to solve my problems just from spending some time searching, but this time I haven't found much on the subject. Here's my issue. I was about 80 miles from home the other day when the low oil light came on. I immediately pulled over to see what was going on, and there was a steady stream of oil pouring out of the lower end of the engine. I had just changed the oil a few days before hand, so my first thought was the drain plug or filter wasn't tight. I'm a fairly small guy, so I climbed under the van to check, and it wasn't either of those. However, everything under the van was soaked in oil and there was nothing left on the dipstick. I call a friend who lived close by, and he was nice enough to trailer the van back home. Once inside the garage, I get it on ramps and put some oil in it. Start it up, and oil is gushing from above the starter. Here's my 2 part question..would that be the oil sending unit in that area, and if so, how do I get to it? I really don't want to pull the starter, and I absolutely don't want to remove the exhaust manifold. Thanks in advance to anyone who can help. I have to get this thing on the road tomorrow or else I'm not gonna make it to work Monday.
