1969 firebird
what can i borrow from 2nd 3rd or 4th gen's
front disk brakes...? engine and trans .......? chevy 350 tpi or cfi and 700r4
interior.....? rims.....?
going to build a 69 firebird using other firebird parts.......?:D
what can be used from other birds.....?
 
It depends on what route you want to do. I have seen 2nd gen TA with 4th gen interior with the upgraded seats, dash, console, etc.. If want more pro touring look I suggest 4th gen parts for interior and motor. You of course will need to have some mods to be able to allow the different years of parts. I would say it is totally up to you on how you want the result to look. As for mechanical parts (Other than drivetrain - motor, tranny, rear end), I am not sure on what would work. I will leave that answer for the other fellows on here. Maybe some how you could incorporate T-tops? Not sure how that would work though.

The drivetrain should work, but you will need the computer and wiring harness. The 4th gen LS based motor would be your best bet.

I'm buying a 69 bird
But it needs help and I have very small budget
What other birds can I use parts from... ???
 
It depends upon what parts you are talking about, download the catalog from www.amesperf.com to get an idea what parts were used for multiple years.
 
You have to take measurements of current and proposed parts and try to figure out whether they will fit and what if anything can be done to make them fit. You are also going from a column that works with a steering box to a column that works with a steering rack . Since you are working on a budget it would be best to actually get the car in proper operating condition before you try to convert things.

The third Gen steering should be recirculating ball. I think rack and pinion was on the fourth gens, or a mid model change. My '88 has a steering box.
 
Rack n pinion came out in 1994 and up
I do plan on putting in a rack in 69

If your motor is more than stock you should upgrade the tranny. Sunshell, shift kit, and servos.

Small correction, Claudio, rack/pinion came out with the 4th gens, 1993.

You already have the sbc in you '69? I'd yank that and put a Pontiac 400 in.

If you must go with the newer engine, get an LS1, first gen Firebirds with a sbc are not right, unless it was a Canadian car.

I do understand about low budget builds.
