Hey there I have just gotten another fiero and this motor is a 200K 2.5L. I am currently giving her a full tune up and I was wondering for my guys that have a 200K motor what kind of plugs/wires do you recommend?

I was thinking AC Delco Rapid Fires because that's what I've used since.... well I've always used rapid fires and so I just wanted to see if there is one that may be better for the engine or do you think these are a good choice?

The AC Delco Rapid Fires or Iridiums are the best choice.
A lot of the "gimick" type plugs don't seem to work as well or last as long.
As for wires, I always have had good luck with the Accel 8.8mm wires. Being a 4-cyl, the universal kit is for V-8's so you get some spares. They work very well with the upgraded igniton systems like the MSD on your car.

Thanks again Oreif. I think I'll go that direction. Dale said he'd changed them but I think that because they've been sitting for some time and when I got the car it was running so rough that I'm just gonna change pretty much everything out on it.

another question to add to the and more part is what about anitfreeze? I've been reading and there is a lot of scrupulation on what type of antifreeze is better for a high mileage car and whether or not "cool" additives are a good idea or not. Some things I've heard are that Peak is the only way to go in any scenario. Other people say that when your engine gets around 150K that you should start using maxlife valvoline. Even others say that you should use Prestone. Any of my high mileage guys have any other options or opinions to any brand? Which ones are better to stay away from and which ones are good to use.

I don't want to go cheap with this and just get any old thing but I do want this to be a usable thread so please fill in with any info you may have on this topic.

I have always used Prestone. If the cooling system is properly maintained (flushed out every couple of years, etc.) I don't think it really matters what brand is used. But I do know that the orange "Dex-Cool" is not a good idea on older cars. It can cause excess corrosion in older vehicles because of the materials used. Generally Dex-Cool has been known to corrode the older freeze plugs on engines. I would recommend staying with the ethylglychol based coolant.
