Hello! My Montana recently threw a P0141 code. If I understand correctly, this means that the downstream 02 sensor has a problem with the heater circuit, and should be replaced. Does this sensor have an effect on gas mileage, or is it only for emission testing? I'm planning to go on a 3,000 mile trip, and need to know if this should be replaced before leaving.

Hi!
Your P0141 code is the oxygen sensor on the exhaust system that is almost directly under the passenger seat (this sensor only affects exhaust emissions) . Look under the van at that location and you will see it just to the rear of the exhaust converter . It just unscrews like a spark plug.
First, check the following:
Damaged wiring
Damaged electrical connector
... Otherwise - replace the sensor
